Dr Nicolas Cadet, MD, CM, FRCSC
Oculofacial and Oculoplastic Surgeon in Montreal
Dr. Nicolas Cadet is an oculofacial and oculoplastic surgeon in Montreal, specializing in aesthetic surgery of the eyelids, eyebrows, and upper face.
His approach is based on an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of the eyes and face, acquired through his residency in ophthalmology and subspecialty training in aesthetic and reconstructive oculofacial plastic surgery. His goal is to achieve natural, harmonious, and personalized results while respecting each patient’s unique features.
Rather than simply modifying one area of the face, Dr. Cadet evaluates the eyes and face as a whole to determine which structures contribute to a tired, aged, or unbalanced appearance. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may involve surgery, non-surgical treatments, or a combination of approaches.
Experience You Can Trust
Since beginning his practice in 2018, Dr. Nicolas Cadet has cared for more than 5,000 patients, with a particular focus on eyelid and oculofacial surgery. He has performed more than 1,000 upper blepharoplasties, more than 500 lower blepharoplasties, and more than 3,000 eyelid and oculofacial surgeries. This extensive surgical experience, combined with his specialized training in oculofacial plastic surgery, allows him to provide highly personalized care with a focus on safety, precision, and natural-looking results.
Specialized Expertise in Eyelid and Upper Facial Surgery
Oculofacial surgery is a subspecialty focused on the eyelids, eyebrows, orbit, tear ducts, and the structures surrounding the eyes.
Dr. Cadet currently focuses his aesthetic practice on rejuvenation of the eyes and upper face, including the following procedures:
Eyelid Aesthetic Surgery
- Upper blepharoplasty — removal or reshaping of excess skin and fat pockets of the upper eyelids to create a more rested and rejuvenated appearance.
- Lower blepharoplasty — treatment of under-eye bags, excess skin, hollows and irregularities of the lower eyelid contour.
- Transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty — an approach through the inner surface of the eyelid to treat certain fat pockets without an external skin incision.
- Asian blepharoplasty / Asian eyelid surgery — a personalized approach that takes into account the unique anatomy of Asian eyelids and each patient’s aesthetic goals.
- Combined upper and lower blepharoplasty — to provide a more rejuvenated and refreshed appearance of the eyes and upper face in a comprehensive manner.
Aesthetic Brow and Forehead Surgery
Aging of the upper face involves more than the eyelids. The position of the eyebrows, the temporal region and the forehead also play an important role in the appearance of the eyes.
Dr. Cadet performs different approaches to brow rejuvenation based on each patient’s anatomy and goals, including:
- Temporal brow lift — a technique primarily targeting the lateral portion of the eyebrow and temporal region.
- Endoscopic brow lift — a minimally invasive approach that repositions the tissues of the forehead and eyebrows through small incisions hidden within the scalp.
- Internal browpexy — targeted repositioning of the eyebrow that can be performed in conjunction with an upper blepharoplasty.
- Pretrichial forehead and brow lift — can elevate the forehead and eyebrows through an incision concealed along the hairline.
- Combined eyelid, forehead, and brow rejuvenation — when multiple structures contribute to an aged or tired appearance of the eyes and upper face.
The choice of technique depends on factors including eyebrow position, forehead anatomy, skin quality, hairline position, and the desired outcome.
Midface and Facial Contour Rejuvenation
Facial aging is not limited to the eyelids. The under-eye region, cheeks, and midface may also descend, lose volume, and lose definition over time.
Depending on the patient’s needs, Dr. Cadet offers different approaches to rejuvenation of the eye area and midface, including:
- Midface rejuvenation
- Midface Lift
- Facial fat grafting (fat transfer / fat grafting)
- Volume restoration of the under-eye area and face
- Combination of eyelid surgery and facial volume restoration
The goal is to progressively restore the proportions and volume of the face rather than create an artificially “pulled” appearance.
Facial Aesthetic Medicine
When surgery is not necessary or when it can be complemented by non-surgical treatments, Dr. Cadet also offers:
- Botulinum toxin injections
- Dermal fillers
- PRP and PRF injections
- Tear trough and under-eye filler treatments
- Facial volume restoration
- Treatments designed to improve facial proportions and harmony
These treatments are selected according to the patient’s anatomy and goals, with an emphasis on natural and balanced results.
Unique Training in Oculofacial Surgery
Dr. Nicolas Cadet obtained his medical degree from McGill University and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Université de Montréal.
He subsequently completed subspecialty training in aesthetic and reconstructive oculofacial plastic surgery, as well as orbital and lacrimal surgery, at McMaster University in the Toronto area under the direction of Dr. Yasser Khan.
This training provides him with particular expertise in the anatomy of the periocular region and the structures surrounding the eyes when evaluating and treating facial aging.
Dr. Cadet is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC). He has received numerous distinctions for his academic achievements and community involvement, has published in the scientific literature, and regularly participates in medical conferences in Canada and internationally.
A Personalized and Natural Approach
Every face ages differently. Two patients with a similar degree of excess eyelid skin may require completely different treatments depending on their eyebrow position, underlying bone structure, facial volume, and individual goals.
For this reason, Dr. Cadet emphasizes a comprehensive facial assessment before recommending any procedure.
His approach aims to:
- preserve each patient’s identity and natural features;
- improve the appearance of the eyes without unnecessarily altering their natural shape;
- maintain harmony between the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, and midface;
- prioritize natural and proportionate results;
- recommend surgical or non-surgical treatments only when they are appropriate.
An Inclusive and Multidisciplinary Practice
Dr. Cadet is particularly attentive to the anatomical, cultural, and ethnic diversity of his patients. His approach takes into account the unique characteristics of each face rather than relying on a single aesthetic ideal.
He practices in both French and English and can also communicate with patients in Haitian Creole, as well as to a more limited extent in Spanish and Mandarin.
His career also includes a strong commitment to community involvement, particularly in the areas of access to eye care and vision health. Since 2014, he has participated in organizing annual glaucoma and eye health screening initiatives in Montréal-Nord.
In 2020, Dr. Cadet and his parents founded the Cadet Foundation. Since its creation, the Cadet Foundation has invested more than $300,000 in initiatives that have had a significant impact on Black and marginalized communities in Canada and Haiti.
